Heads Askance

Impression

Summary

"Oh!" he chirps - he always chirps - she doesn't think she's ever seen him unhappy. "Nothing bad, Sake-chan! I wanted you to meet someone, that's all." He is bouncing on the balls of his feet, hands clasped in front of his chest; the vision of a boy barely touched by the aches of coming-of-age overlays his true self, a pinkness underlying the pops of freckles on his cheeks as his eyes shine, overexcited at the prospect of a new friend. Despite her own self, oft-praised by the elderly for its cuteness, something inside her whispers that she could never quite appear like a Child, as he does in his juvenile glow.
He is, she knows, just as old as she is.

Uraraka Ochako's acquaintance in mildly (or perhaps more than mildly) illegal activities, Nemo, brings back someone new to bring into the fold. It's sure to alter the dynamic she already has with him - whatever it. Still, she's hopeful - and she's used to letting him take the lead, anyway.

Typeface

Summary

Todoroki thinks of bodies that survive anything thrown at them and come back stronger, angrier, deadlier, names written endlessly over-over in cheap newspaper type; and then thinks of bodies like broken glass, cobbled together with pieces sloughing off, explosive shards and intended fissures. Thinks of names stamped in red ink, and names written in it.

The youngest Todoroki is entirely used to the sensation of weight upon too-tired shoulders. In the wake of the USJ incident, though, something about that weight changes; and even in a mind pulled away from a body under strain, something's going to have to give eventually.

Slate

Summary

How terribly ordinary, Tenya thinks. A simple, unobtrusive life, far from the highs and lows of the rich, and famous, and powerful. Was that all there was to Hashimoto's existence, the man would never have come to find himself anywhere near the cold "court" floor. In fact, given the location of his firm, it's entirely possible he'd have stayed clear of heroes, villains, and the grey wall of vigilantism entirely.
How terribly typical, Tenya thinks, because man cannot help but throw himself into danger, no matter how it burns at his heels; no matter how he wagers his skin for bruises, his cry for silence, his hot-blooded life for a red stain on the ground.

The founders - and current sole operating staff - of the distinctly extralegal Agency One Hundred and Forty One discuss the fate of one of their prisoners. Iida Tenya, beneath a skin he knows all too well, contemplates his role in all of this, and wonders if it's all worth it; Nemo, as always, is there to be a reassurance.

Sapling

Summary

She imagines, with a shiver quite unrelated to the dawn breeze, Samidare rushing around the kitchen for bento boxes and crying over the sting of their younger sister's caramelised onions; imagines Satsuki in Froppy's hero costume, wearing too-large gloves and fighting villains twice her size.
It must be terrible, she thinks, to realise your sibling's fragility and become them in one fell swoop; to be presented with the skin of an immortal and be asked to wear it.

Asui Tsuyu is not a naïve girl, by any means. She knows what the world is like - knows who she is, and what she is, and what she has to be. Still, she's not sure she really had the conviction she needed, before - not until she stopped knowing things, and started seeing them.
